Where Are They Now: Skye Woods on Working at Colt Studios, Becoming an Iconic Muscle Bottom, and Life After Porn

Skye had a great run at Colt and later at RVD Productions, before unofficially retiring in the early 2010s. Though he has not made a studio film for several years, many of his scenes remain essential parts of the gay porn cannon. Skye joined us for an interview to share how fondly he remembers his time in the business, how happy he is today, and how he will forever identify as a Bottom with a capital B!

Could you share with us your journey to entering the industry and becoming a star?
SW: It all started when I created a Bigmuscle.com profile. I loved all the attention my pics were getting. I was hungry for more so I found some local porn sites to see what was possible. I started doing vids for Bluelife.com, a site that focused mainly on guys' butts. I did excellent work there and the fans loved it. Just a few months into working with them, I got a message from the Colt Studios model scouting agent Manfred Spear, asking if I’d be interested in modeling for them. I was flattered by this offer and was definitely interested. The rest is history.

How has your life been since leaving the industry? What have you been doing the last few years?
SW: Life has been fantastic! I’ve been really enjoying my work as a massage therapist. I have 20 years of experience now. I feel like it was my calling, to help others.

You started at Colt Studios in the mid-2000s, when that studio was at one of its highest points. What was it like then?
SW: Yes, I feel very fortunate to have started my career with Colt Studios when I did. I had the hottest muscle guys around to work with. Colt was just starting to bring muscle guys back into the picture when I came into the scene. We all had a blast, Carlo Massi, Chris Wide, Luke Garrett, Gage Weston. All fantastic guys!

Had you been a big fan of any porn stars before then?
SW: Yes, I was browsing the internet one day and saw some fantastic pics of Carl Hardwick and Pete Kusak, I was like, "Wow!" I was fascinated with the raw, masculine sexual appeal that they displayed. I was like, "That could be me!"

Who were some of your fellow stars of that time you consider favorites? Wish you had worked with? Still in touch with?
SW: My all-time favorites were Tom Chase, Luke Garrett, and Carlo Massi. Honestly, I feel like I was with the best of the best in the business at the time, so I have no one in mind that I wish I’d worked with. I’ve been mostly out of touch with all the guys I ever worked with. It’s like we all just kind of went our separate ways when we stopped.

What do you think was your best scene and why?
SW: My scene with Tom Chase is my favorite scene of all! Everything about that scene was gorgeously shot, the spectacular pool and background were great. Of course, I enjoyed working with Tom, so sexy and such a nice guy!

You were/are known as one of the great bottoms of gay porn. Did you ever have any interest in topping?
SW: I’m a true bottom and I love bottoming. I never had any interest in topping.

Is there anything sexually that you didn’t do on the screen and wish you had?
SW: I always wanted to do a group scene with all the boys. I think it would have been a big hit with all the muscle fans.
