It gets better.

If you know anything about me you know Rush Limbaugh and I share a lot in common. But now so more than ever! We both release really good quality content into the world, we're both idiots, and apparently we're both obsessed with Pete Buttigieg making out with his husband Chasten Buttigieg! That's right. I am Rush Limbaugh.

Rush is catching heat for the not one, not two, but three times he harped on Mayor Pete's embracing of his husband in front of the public eye on Wednesday's episode of his radio show. Here's #1: (Via The Hill)

You’ve got Fauxcahontas way back there in the background barely out of the tepee bringing up the tail end. Biden’s gone. So you’re faced with a dyed-in-the-wool socialist who’s not even a Democrat [and] a gay guy, 37 years old, loves kissing his husband on debate stages.

"Barely out of the tepee." What a cutie. Here's #2 (said after knocking down Amy Klobuchar (this was all part of Limbaugh takedown of the Democratic nominees)):

Then they’re sitting there, and they’re looking at Mayor Pete, a 37-year-old gay guy, mayor of South Bend, loves to kiss his husband on the debate stage. And they’re saying, 'OK, how’s this gonna look, a 37-year-old gay guy kissing his husband onstage next to Mr. Man Donald Trump? What’s gonna happen there?'

"Mr. Man" lol. And here's the third time Rush brought up Pete's kissing:

They’ve gotta be saying that despite all the great progress and despite all the great 'wokeness' and despite all the great ground that’s been covered, America’s still not ready to elect a gay guy kissing his husband on the debate stage president. They have to be saying this, don’t they?

Leave it to Rush to keep politics erotic. Love ma boi. Obviously Rush is doing what he can to systematically discredit each of the candidates, but my genuine assessment of these quotes - which have made the rounds on mainstream news outlets - is that by focusing on Pete's sexuality rather than his policies Rush is actually picking the wrong fight.

Remember that Trump (who Rush just received the esteemed Presidential Medal of Freedom from during the State of the Union in a bizarre and unprecedented move) outwardly positions himself as a sort of... insincere nightmarish two-faced... I hate to say the word... ally......ish... sorta...thing:

This is purely marketing, obviously. Bigots are already squarely in Trump's pocket, so he needs to court any undecided voters with vestiges of moral integrity. They won't feel comfortable voting for someone who positions himself as homophobic. Rush is pandering to homophobes by portraying First Husbands with disgust, but most people who feel uncomfortable with two men embracing are already team Trump. Rush would have been better off borrowing a Pete criticism from one of Pete's Democratic rivals.

Also, I think any attacks on Pete's sexuality might endear the candidate to undecided democratic voters. And to go even further - many members of the LGBTQ community who don't support Pete criticize his lack of outward gayness. But being bullied for his orientation by Rush reframes Buttigieg as quintessentially gay. Rush would be shooting himself in the foot if he accidentally united LGBTQ voters around Buttigieg. Does any of this make sense? Maybe I'm just insane. Like ma boi Rush! JK he's not insane. He's just insane... for kissing! Muah.
