Tales of the City, which is also being called Armistead Maupin's Tales of the City, is based on Maupin's 70s book series of the same name. It's a love letter to San Francisco that chronicles the lives of a diverse group of people encompassing all the letters that make LGBTQIA great. This isn't the first time that Tales of the City has been adapted for television, but previous iterations have come under scrutiny in recent years for featuring predominantly white casts.
