Of all the end-of-year porn blockbusters hitting the shelves lately—"blockbuster" defined here as any DVD that comes in a two disk "Director's Cut" or "Special Edition", costs upwards of sixty dollars, and is preceded by at least half a dozen breathless press releases in our inbox—"Wrong Side of the Tracks" is one of the ones we've been looking forward to the most. After all, the cast list is a veritable who's-who-in-gay-smut, with star turns by Rascal Video trophy boys Eddie Stone and Johnny Hazzard; All Worlds' valet-to-the-Republican-power-elite Chad Savage; swarthy glamourpuss Luca DiCorso; and a more than supportive supporting cast including Fleshbot faves Shane Rollins, Damon DeMarco, Hunter James, and Marcus Iron. The word "scorching" is used to describe the sex in nearly every preview we've read so far. There's even a script that's worth not fast forwarding through at least once and some passable-for-a-porn-flick dialogue too.
So what's not to like?
Well, that price tag for one: like Falcon's "Cross Country" and COLT's "BuckleRoos", the feature is spread out over two disks—an increasingly common marketing schtick that bumps up the price to nearly a hundred bucks if you want to see the whole movie. (Hey, if "Lord of the Rings" can fit on a single DVD, certainly porn studios could figure out how to cram three hours or so of smut on one as well.) To be fair, that price does include a copy of last year's "Raw Footage", presumably as part of some inventory control initiative at Channel 1. And überdirectrix Chi Chi LaRue can generally be counted on for giving plenty of bang for the buck. But the features s/he directs for Vivid are usually pretty hot too, and go for nearly a third of the price. (Guess it's also part of the Great Mystery why gay porn routinely costs twice as much as the straight flavored kind ... but that's a whole other bucket of lube entirely.)
Since any smut is worth only as much as you're willing to pay for it, though, we'll leave you to peruse the cast gallery below and judge by your own standards of economy. Whether you decide to shell out $100 to own it or $10 to rent it for a weekend, it's still one of the must-see releases of the year.
