Photography by Richard Ackermann

Photographer Richard Ackermann was born in the German part of Switzerland, and his trilingual virtual portfolio is everything that you'd expect from the Swiss: technically precise, finely tuned, and very sexy. (OK, so we think Switzerland is sexy—anyone have a problem with that?) The many outdoor and athletic scenes (especially his nude Olympian series) have a stark intensity somewhat evocative of the work of Leni Riefenstahl—or her modern-day equivalent, the Abercrombie & Fitch catalog. We also like the fact that Ackermann is completely self-taught; he's a professional opera singer, and is just as camera-worthy as his models to boot. -RM
