Meet Gio Ortega (aka Evan Ortiz)

Everyone has their own favorite chemically enhanced cherished memories from New York City's now closed and already legendary Roxy; if you were to ask certain members of the Fleshbot editorial staff, the best nights included the names Peter Rauhofer and Gio Ortega. Rauhofer is the DJ who remixed much of Madonna's best work (no arguments, please), while the lovely and talented Gio became one of the city's most talked-about go-go boys as the face and body who often adorned Roxy's full-page ads in local fag rags. (Probably for two reasons: one, he's freakin' perfect and two, can anyone resist a massive thigh adorned with Chinese calligraphy tats? Not us!) But Gio was always more than just another pretty set of glutes: in addition to his dancing gigs at Roxy and Rawhide (sometimes going by the name Evan Ortiz), his days were spent as one of New York's bravest with the FDNY and he was one of the standout models in the hunkalicious 2006 Calendar of Heroes.
