Deep Inside Mike Jones: Haggard’s Hustler

OK, so we're all over the New York Times today, but can we help it when the Grey Lady decides to start muscling in on our territory? Yesterday's Sunday Times Magazine featured an interview with Mike Jones, the Denver escort who bought Rev. Ted Haggard to his knees (in more ways than one) and caused one of the most breathtaking downfalls in the evangelical movement. We always wondered why it took him so long to spill the beans on his meth-fueled hourly sessions with the powerful religious leader, but Jones' revelations were worth the wait: "This was a unique situation," Jones tells the Times. "Here is Ted preaching about being shameful ... and then he sneaks around with me." Conspiracy theorists will be disappointed to read Jones' claim that he didn't out Haggard to help the Democrats win the midterms because "I voted for Bush in the last election." Ponder that dichotomy whilst reading what else he had to say as well as two reviews of Jones new tell-all, "I Had to Say Something". Just don't call him a hustler. "I prefer the term 'male escort'. If I was strictly a prostitute, people would probably think I was working the street. And I'm not. These men were coming to me with really big emotional issues, and I was comforting them."-RM
