Mad About The Boy(Bands)

Wank fodder based on current events is a concept just about as old as porn itself (surely some enterprising studio is putting the finishing touches on "Larry Craig's Tap That Toe" as we speak)—but we don't come across news stories that sound suspiciously like porn scenarios quite as often. But that's just what seems to be happening with the unfolding saga of rotund boyband impresario and accused Ponzi scheme operator Lou Pearlman. According to a devastating piece in the current issue of Vanity Fair, Pearlman's talent scouting methods sound awfully familiar ...

"Some guys joked about it; I remember [one singer] asking me, 'Have you let Lou blow you yet?'" says Steve Mooney, an aspiring singer who served as Pearlman's assistant and lived in his home for two years. "I would absolutely say the guy was a sexual predator. All the talent knew what Lou's game was. If they say no, they're lying to you" ... "I'll never forget this as long as I live," Mooney says. "He leaned back in his chair, in his white terry-cloth robe and white underwear, and spread his legs. And then he said, and these were his exact words, 'You're a smart boy. Figure it out.'"

(And it gets even less sexy when you realize that Pearlman's attentions were often focused on aspiring boyband members as young as 13 years old; sure, we've all lusted after Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez or *cough* Lance Bass at some point, but we'll keep our barely legal pop fantasies firmly on that legal side, thankyouverymuch.)

Indicted for his financial improprieties this past summer, Pearlman is currently awaiting trial, though it's unclear whether he'll also be facing any charges regarding his alleged pervy overtures toward his former protoges at some point in the future. And if they know anything, JT and JC aren't telling. But creepy as they can get in the real world, we don't expect to see boyband porn fantasies going away anytime soon: news stories may come and go, but hot horny twinks doing dirty things to each other in five part harmony are, like, forever.
