Joe Gage’s “Chainsaw”: Something Nasty In The Woodshed

Ever since Joe Gage made the instant gay porn classic "Arcade On Route 9" a few years ago we've been anxiously awaiting each of his subsequent releases to see when he'll come up with one worthy of joining it on our (very short) list of favorite skin flicks of all time. That's admittedly a lot to ask of any porn director. So when we say that "Chainsaw" doesn't quite hit those same splooge-drenched heights it's not meant as much of a criticism as it may sound: since nearly anything Gage does is better than most of what comes down our pipe (*ahem*), to say it's still one of our favorite skin flicks so far this year isn't as much of a contradiction as it may sound either.

If we wanted to nitpick, we could compare "Chainsaw" to "Arcade" and say that its main plot conceit (something about men working with chainsaws) isn't as tightly constructed, a few of the pairings aren't as inspired, and even Gage's trademark intergenerational scene--here represented by daddy Allen Silver walking in on twink brothers Riley Burke and Brandon Cole having a jerkoff contest and deciding to join in (sorry, should be have given a spoiler notice?) comes off as pretty unbelieveable, even for Gage.

Still, in any other movie scenes like Braxton Bond delivering a wet and happy blowjob to the humpy Tony Buff and Sebastian Rivers and CJ Madison as (respectively) a nerdy traveling salesman and his beer-swilling customer giving us the kind of white trash fuck fantasy we were hoping to see more of in Gage's "Road To Redneck Hollow" would be standouts on their own. (Oh, and did we mention pretty much anything with Titan exclusive Dillon Buck is worth watching?)

Those with a heavy powertool fetish may walk away from "Chainsaw" a bit disappointed, but anyone looking for some serious woodworking should add it to their must-see list. Who says deforestation always has to be a bad thing?
