Are Scissor Sisters Supposed To Be Gay Or Something?

Let's see: one group of muscular, shirtless male dancers. One group of female dancers in hooded rainbow-colored bodysuits. Jake Shears in cut-up top. Jake Shears in bondage straps and short-shorts. Jake Shears naked. Must be a new Scissor Sisters video!

And thank goodness for that. Sure, folks like Lady Gaga and Cazwell may have the aesthetic down pat, but no one churns out the gay disco hits like Scissor Sisters. "Any Which Way," the second single from the Sisters' most recent album, Night Work—which is excellent, by the way—plays in that special sugary-sweet genre of campy 70s style club stompers that they do better than pretty much everyone else. And the video is a visual treat, featuring the fabulously fit Jake Shears and co. performing while surrounded by bursts of color, toys, office furniture and half-naked models. What with September being two weeks away, is it too late to nominate this joint for song of the summer? We're doing it anyway.
