Zac Efron Does His Best Bear Cub Imitation At ‘Charlie St. Cloud’ Premiere

Zac Efron grew a beard! We never thought we'd say that. Or we never thought we'd say that and not be snidely referring to his eventual marriage to Disney pop-tartlet, Vanessa Hudgens. But does Efron look better scruffy or smooth?

Poor guy. Doomed to forever battle against his elfish good looks in his bid to be recognized as a Serious Actor, we can totally see why he let the facial hair grow out. Sadly, we're not so sure if this is a great look for him. The stark contrast between his dark facial hair and his almost preternaturally dazzling blue eyes is startling enough. Combine that with his wrinkled gray suit and you get a guy who looks not unlike Don Draper's pedophile neighbor. But maybe our opinion has been skewed. These side-by-side photos don't just compare bearded and unbearded Efron, but shirted and shirtless Efron as well. It's pretty obvious which ones we're leaning to, but what do you think?
