Remember the Stone Age before the internet when phone sex lines were all the rage? A new website purports to let us chat with our favorite pornstars via the old-fashioned thingamabob called the telephone. Is this the future of porn?

Once you hit the site BlackbookBuddies.com, you're greeted by the smiling faces of pretty men, some familiar—like Jake Austin and College Dude's Carter Nash—some unfamiliar. A shiny sun of a magenta button says how many porn buddies are free for a little gab session; every time I've checked it's been anything from zero to one. You click the buddy you like best (usually the only dude available), enter your phone number, and your buddy calls to chat!

Seems like a nifty concept, but in world of webcams and text messages, would such an idea fly? The site claims that pornstars are excited to chat with their Twitter followers, but about what? Is it about phone sex? Or, errr... making friends? Wouldn't the whole thing be a bit awkward? Who chats on the phone anymore anyway? The rates also .99 cents a minute. Um... would anyone pay $20 to get off in 20 minutes? Plus, how can we be guaranteed the person we're talking to is really the star in question? We've heard the jokes about the sultry voice really being some disinterested fat slob filing her nails.

So this is the new world of phone sex, fading away the moment it gets reinvented for the web. The site would be better if it incorporated webcams. As is, it feels disappointingly close to seeing gay sex through a daguerreotype.
