Don't cringe at the word "boobs"—we're still talking all men here, baring their chests on television screens the world over. From ex-tiny fantasy humanite Elijah Wood to hunky celebrity douche Jeremy Piven (who even flashes bulge), we've got the men currently stripping down on the dude boob tube.
Elijah Wood's new comedy on FX, "Wilfred," seems to be a hit with audiences by boasting some of FX's highest ratings, even more than cult fave "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia." The unlikely premise has plucky twink Elijah starring as a depressive who attempts suicide, only to be saved by an unlikely friendship with a neighbor's dog. Said dog—named...guess—is played by a dude in a dog suit named Jason Gann. Technically, the dog is also fully naked, which we know is getting you hot under the collar. Based on an Aussie show of the same name, "Wilfred" is worth checking out, if only for these shots of a shirtless Elijah. He's enough to make us roll over, then beg.
FX is rolling out the manmeat. First Elijah, then a major catch in "Sons of Anarchy." Charlie Hunnam, the famous (to gay men) former twink of Britain's "Queer as Folk," stars in this gritty drama about an outlaw motorcycle club. We're guessing they're not as sweetly charming as our favorite motorcycle gang, the dudes Pee Wee Herman runs into at the end of "Pee Wee's Big Adventure." However, the Anarchy gang is certainly sexier, what with Charlie and his chest.
We're cheating. Here's a movie. "Something Borrowed," which premiered this May, with the drop dead delectable Colin Egglesfield. The 38 (yes 38!) year old proves that the 30s really are the new 20s, even the new 18! He's gorgeous, and if we were a teenage girl this photo would be hanging in our locker, instead of, um, becoming our new desktop background. The film is a rom-com with Kate Hudson where—where—I'm sure the mention of Kate Hudson killed all interest, so if you must know more, we'll leave the rest to Google and your fingertips.
Cheating again! Here's Antonio Sabato Jr. thong dancing in the upcoming film "Balls to the Wall." Okay, we're interested. He's dancing like this because he stars as an engaged man who becomes an exotic dancer to pay for his lavish wedding. Correction: we're extremely interested. With Steven Soderbergh's male stripper flick "Magic Mike" on the horizon, we're entering a golden age of male screen flesh!
Back to TV, Jeffery Donovan has a locker room towel fight during a recent scene in "Burn Notice" on USA Network. No self respecting gay would change the dial as sweaty hunks in nuttin' but towels grapple about in the steam room. Will the outtakes be on the DVD? Or at least long lingering shots taking by some randy cameraman?
HBO's "Entourage" is too relentlessly heterosexual for us. It still doesn't mean we can't enjoy seeing furry Kevin Connolly as he sits up in bed in this recent episode. Which leads us to our final TV man surprise...
Jeremy Piven, also of "Entourage," has his muscles and other areas bulging for our viewing delight. Ratings surely shot sky high during the brief seconds of his suspiciously smooth chested reveal. Despite the rumors of his less than pleasant personality, we'd never turn away from a view of his dickishness.
