Gay Porn’s “Hottest Cock” Boomer Banks: The Fleshbot Interview

Even though he's been on the scene for only a year, it's almost impossible to remember gay porn without Boomer Banks. His meteoric rise from obscurity to Performer of the Year at this year's Grabbys would seem to paint a picture of a man who is ruthless and will step on anyone to get his way, but the fact that he is the polar opposite of those traits makes him even hotter. I sat down with Boomer recently to discuss his recent Grabbys triumph, his hottest scenes, his burgeoning career as a fashion designer, and his undying love for his fans. If there was any doubt in your mind that he was the most humble, down to earth, funny, personable, and warm performer in the industry, prepare to have it erased.  

Vincent Thrice: When did you first become aware of the adult industry, and did that coincide with you realizing it was something you wanted to do for a living, or were those two separate moments?

Boomer Banks: I’ve always been aware of the adult industry, and the day that I turned 33 was the day that I filmed my first scene. I went through my whole 20s not really… I’m a fashion designer, so my 20s were just a time for working with other designers and it wasn’t until I moved to New York City, and I got the big job, and then I lost the big job that I just started exploring other avenues. I started with New York City nightlife and that was very sexualizing. I would show up shirtless and then work as a go-go dancer or whatever, and then I got pictures taken, and I started getting noticed by people in the industry. 

So that’s when I was asked by Bruno Bond from Falcon to send in a model form, and a few days later Steve Cruz called me and asked me to be in this movie Timberwolves. So I wouldn’t say that this is a career move, I just think it’s a stepping stone to create a platform in branding myself. It’s a very infamous way, but it’s working because people are taking notice in fashion. At every event that I show up to I’m either wearing something that I’ve created or someone’s wearing something that I made. 

VT: It’s really admirable that you don’t hide the fact that you’re an escort, and that you are, in your words “owning it.” Do you feel that there is a societal stigma to it that forces most people to conceal that part of themselves?

BB: I think that there is this whole shameful slut internalized syndrome that goes around with gays where they feel that they have to hide how horny they may be. But the reality is that all of us are the same and the less hidden we become about the whole situation the easier it is to get laid, and number two, it’s easier to trust someone when they’re being honest and forthcoming. I’ve embodied the escorting, and I’ve embodied it as the word “escort.” I would say 90% of the time, I just escort men, sometimes beautiful men so that’s been my thing, but it’s a small part of my income. Right now, the biggest thing is appearances all around the United States, and showing up and meeting my fans is how I’m making most of my money right now. And it’s a lot of fun because I get to interact, and I’m a very social person and I love my fans.

So there’s a stigma, yes, but the reality is most of us have done it at some point or another to some degree whether we want to admit it or not. And not everybody has to own it. I know people that do it that are very discreet and they’re doing it to get through school and all of these amazing situations that are going to make them better people. You know, so you need to look at the bigger picture, owning it and being discreet about it are two different things. I support all of my peers as long as they are forthcoming and they own it in their own way. And the majority of the guys that I know do. Some of them hide it and some of them are overexcited about it and they just look bad. Because the reality of it is that  we’re all people, and we’re not doing anything to hurt, or at least I’m not doing anything to hurt other people at least, you know?

VT: Well yeah, it’s like anything else, it’s providing a service, I don’t see why people have to cast aspersions.

BB: It’s providing a service that has been around for a very, very long time. 

VT: Yeah, second oldest profession, as they always say

BB: Yeah (Both laugh). 

VT: You recently won “hottest cock” at The Grabbys, and it almost seems unfair to even nominate anyone else in this category. (Boomer begins laughing) Do you foresee a time when you’ll have to pull an Oprah and just withdraw from consideration?

BB: (Laughs) That’s funny… I don’t know. I mean, that award I also won the Hookie for that, so yeah, I think I’m done with that award. I think that a lot of people have big cocks but that doesn’t make them the hottest cock. I think that the whole package needs to be included. I’m not tooting my horn, nor do I ever have to, but I’m a really good guy and I think that projects in everything that I do, and my problem was that if it hadn’t been for my identity, I would’ve done porn a long time ago. The only reason people know about it now is because I’m in the public eye, but for a long time when I would go on dates, because I’m a dating kind of guy, so I just need a couple days, and no, I’m not going to send cock pictures and stuff like that. And then I’d meet them, and I’m into them and we get naked, and they’re like, “Oh my god, I never knew you had a big cock,” and I’m like, “Well, why would you know?” (Both laugh)

In retrospect I realize that a lot of these guys probably walk around with that attitude. That’s their identity, you know, they have to plug it. And I’ve just never felt the need to do that. My personality and my heart are way bigger. 

VT: Tell us about your menswear collection that you’ve been working on. Have you secured any distribution deals yet?

BB: No, not yet, not yet. Right now, in that respect, I’m really more focused on the porn only because I want to create a foundation that sticks in the industry. And I’m a Gemini, so if I’m putting my foot in one too many things I don’t finish what I’ve started so now my focus is on porn. That time will come, and most likely within the year I’ll have a plan and distribution and all that. I have a lot of avenues, I just don’t have the time to offer to those services. It’s exciting, and a lot of designers, a lot of independent designers that I know have come forward and been very, very supportive, either morally or resourcefully. 

So there’s a plan in action, it’s just that right now, Boomer needs to shine in the porn industry and it was such an honor to win Performer of the Year, I can’t even begin to tell you the feeling that I had when my name was called. I was beside myself to think that amongst all those performers who, in my eyes, are pioneers and have definitely put in their work, that they would recognize me in a year’s time, and to be able to share it with the likes of Trenton Ducati. So I really feel that I have an obligation to be that guy right now. 

VT: You’re from the west coast originally, right?

BB: Originally I was born in Mexico and then I was raised in Southern California, all over the place really. LA was the main hub, and I have a lot of great friends there but it’s no longer my home. I feel that New York has embraced me and loved me like no there place I’ve ever been. 

VT: Okay, that’s actually where I was going with that is I was wondering if your proximity to New York had to do with your passion for fashion and wanting to be in the fashion center of America?

BB: Very much so. 

VT: How did you come up with the name "baconbits" for your fans? 

BB: (Laughs) I love little cute names. All my friends, they know that I’m that guy that, you know, most of my exes have really cute names (both laugh). Except for my last ex, but… So yeah, most of them have really cute names, and I don’t know, I play off of words a lot and I absolutely love bacon, and it became a thing with me when Facebook first started as, you know, my real self, and my Instagram is baconlvr. So my fans were like, oh yeah bacon’s awesome, and blah blah blah, and then I don’t know, one day I just hashtagged baconbits, and I was like, you guys are awesome, you guys are like bacon. (Both laugh).

VT: It definitely seems to have stuck, which is awesome because it’s a great, unique thing. 

BB: Oh it’s great, I love it. 

VT: What is the hottest scene that you’ve done, or maybe a top three if you can’t pick just one. 

BB: My scene with James Ryder there was quite a connection there, that guy is amazingly personal and really has this way of looking at you while he’s being fucked that’s just… (both laugh). It just really turned me on. 

And then my scene with Tony Orion, that was the first time that I was out on location and it was just a lot of fun, and he’s a really good performer as well. 

There’s also a scene that is not out yet, I’m sure it’ll be out really soon because it’s part of the same line as the one with James Ryder, and this is with Mike De Marko, and I cannot wait for you guys to see that cumshot! It was Fucking. Epic. When I was done I felt like my whole life had been drained out of me (both laugh). It was a New York based movie, she came out here for the Black Party and she made me her main character, the movie’s called The Pack and it’s coming out this month. It was amazing. 

So, on Twitter, there’s been a lot of talk of me being with Seven Dixon, and actually he’s my best friend in the whole world. We’ve never had sex off camera and we got hired to do that scene together and I guess that we had a lot of sexual craziness that has been pent up between the both of us and we fucking tore it up on that scene. mr. VT: Is there anyone you haven’t worked with yet that you’re dying to work with?

BB: I think in the future when the epic bottom scene happens, I want to work with Tim Kruger, and try to convince him to make a flip scene because he hasn’t bottomed either (Both laugh). And we both have really big appendages so I think it would be a very lucrative move for the both of us (both laugh). 

VT: Yeah, that’s an understatement. 

BB: Yeah, he’s so sweet and that makes him so fucking hot. 

VT: Is there anything else you’d like your fans to know, or perhaps anyone who’s discovering you for the first time, which I do find hard to believe, but…

BB: (Laughs) I’m so humbled and I just want to thank my fans. They have been my biggest cheerleaders through this whole situation. I just want them to know that it’s humbling to have such amazing people backing you no matter what. I’m a very genuine and loyal person, and I’m very forthcoming, there’s not much you don’t know about me. There’s certain things that I don’t talk about just because they’re not a part of my brand, but I’m pretty much an open book, and I’m an advocate for many charities, and I just want them to know that I’m going to continue doing what I’m doing and give it 110%. It’s been an amazing ride.
