Women aren't the only ones who are typed by their hair color in modern society.  I've often joked that gay culture is not unlike one of those hoary '50s lost world epics wherein the women all wear leopard skin sarongs, the aggressive brunettes ruling over a passive slave class of blondes who get whipped and sacrificed to the volcano gods.  Yes, gay chauvinism dictates that dark-haired men are virile, powerful, and domineering, while their towheaded counterparts are pliant, docile, and oh-so-very sexually exploitable.

Alfred Hitchcock one opined -- candidly opined -- that he thought blondes made the best victims in movies.  The implication is pretty clear:  blondness and fairness typify innocence, purity, conquest, and the sullying of a permafrost lust object.  There are different shades of blond -- platinum blond, baby blond, ice blond, sandy blond, trashy blond -- and though the social significance may vary somewhat with the tone, I figure that when it comes to gay porn, most male viewers want to see blonds get fucked.  Controlled.  Surmounted.  Defiled.

There have been exceptions down through the decades, to be sure -- Chase Hunter and Ty Fox spring immediately to mind -- but by and large, I feel that blond performers are expected to be a great deal more passive, or at least versatile, than their brunette co-stars.  Even though I get bored with the expectation, I can still understand the erotic charge of seeing a gruff swart set in on a malleable Goldilocks.  The Ice Prince melts.  It's all very symbolic.  It would seem that blond men represent sexual status symbols, meaning it's a feather in your cap if you can bag one in his own neck of the woods.
