Does Anyone Hook-Up In Public Restrooms Anymore?

It feels like such a throwback to the '60s, '70s and '80s, but the fantasy still pops up in porn today: meeting a strange dude in a filthy public restroom, getting sucked through a glory hole, then getting fucked in the stall. Outside of gay bars, is this even common anymore?

In previous decades, when homosexuality was far more illicit than it is today, bathroom glory hole sex seemed like one of the few alternatives to anonymously hook-up without fear of social retribution (other than stings from the cops). Also, when gay sex wasn't as widely available as it is via today's internet, tearooms were an alternative place to bars for horny guys to get their rocks off. But now, thanks to hook-up websites and a more visibly proud gay community, tearoom sex is becoming an anomaly.

The only time I've ever seen a glory hole outside of a sex club was in college ten years ago. There was a restroom on campus where closeted young men would hole up in stalls and suck any random dick that poked through the hole. Sometimes, there would be group jack-off sessions. The thrill of public sex and of getting caught was very real. Hooking up online was only starting to become mainstream, so the campus tearoom sex seemed like a viable option.

Today, I don't know a single gay man who visits public restrooms in search of anonymous sex. I also live in the very tolerant environment of Manhattan, where gay men have many safe alternatives to blow a load. Out gay men mainly go online or to various sex clubs. Closeted men visit Adult Booth Stores or those same sex clubs. Maybe they cruise park toilets, too?

I imagine in rural communities that don't have many gay bars, public cruising still occurs. But in the big cities, it seems to be waning. Recently, I strolled through Central Park's infamous cruising grounds, the Rambles, only to find it fairly empty, except for the expected single older gents wandering about. Maybe it was an off day, but the action was considerably less than a decade ago, where you'd catch a wide variety of men playing naughty games deep in the bushes.

A few porn sites, most notably Next Door Studios, still use the idea of bathroom sex as an arousing scenario. While the old favorite site CruisingForSex.com still lists many spots for cruisy toilets, how common is it really anymore? Is this still a realistic fantasy? Besides in private fitness clubs or in the bars, do gay men still frequent public restrooms for man-on-man action? What are your experiences, dear readers?
