Chi Chi LaRue Enters The Billboard Charts

You can now add chart-topping hitmaker to the list of Chi Chi LaRue's accomplishments. Chi Chi appears alongside Markaholic on RuPaul's new single "LGBT" from the album Realness, which recently debuted at number 6 on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Music Chart.

In a new profile on Billboard's website (link below), LaRue lets the world know not just who she is, but how long she's waited for this kind of accomplishment.

"I'm a rocker underneath this 13-year-old pop girl that I portray," jokes LaRue, who is a big fan of KISS, Judas Priest, Stevie Nicks and Joan Jett. LaRue and RuPaul have been friends for nearly three decades and have often talked "about doing something together."

For her part, RuPaul has been trying to make something happen with Chi Chi for many years...

"I'd been wanting to work with Chi Chi for many years," says RuPaul, "and after I had heard her 2014 Markaholic-produced single 'Sowahahaponwuz' I became super motivated to make a duet happen. The sound of 'LGBT' was inspired by our mutual love for Joan Jett. We then asked, 'What would our audience want to hear us sing about?' and boom, the lyrics were born."

While there's no official video for the song yet, LaRue is hoping that one can be made sometime soon.

"I hope Ru asks me to do a video with her for 'LGBT,'" says LaRue, who imagines a clip with both of them in full drag. "I want to look at her in the face and lip-sync this song." 

I think it's safe to say that this needs to happen.
