A Salute To ‘Sex Icon’ George Stephanopoulos

One of the reasons that Fox News continues to dominate the ratings is because they understand that sex sells. Why else do you think they have busty blondes spouting off hateful talking points they clearly don't understand or believe? Because they know that horny men will tune in to watch. I think ABC News should do the same with George Stephanopoulos.

I had never thought about George as a "sex icon" until his wife Ali Wentworth called him that during an interview with The Huffington Post (link below). At first I thought she was either crazy or trying to move book sales, but as you can see from the checklist above, she might be on to something.

She mentions reluctantly going a blind date on the request of a friend, only to look across the table and realize it wasn't just political analyst George Stephanopolous staring across at her - it was her soul-mate. "Like [finding] a good melon, I knew " says Wentworth, and sure enough she and George were engaged just three quick months later.

Her marriage is like any other though, defined by both her and George's individuality and their ability to compromise. She and Stephanopolous are like "oil and water", but that doesn't divide them- it makes things "always exciting". Her key to a marriage like this? "Humor". She also mentions that it doesn't hurt to be married to a "sex icon" like George, although public discussion of that life is, as she learned first hand, "off-limits".

Remember when she was on In Living Color? I don't know why that knowledge is still in my head, but it is. George's pop culture claim to fame was when Michael J. Fox was cast to play him in The American President. I know he wasn't directly playing him, but everyone was thinking it throughout the entire 1992 election, so it only made sense when Fox showed up in that film, which is a classic in my estimation. George also looks vaguely like he could be related to that film's writer, Aaron Sorkin, which only makes him more attractive. Speaking of which, maybe next time I'll do "Aaron Sorkin: Swarthy Sex God."

Yeah, probably not.
