Pass The Lube: Dark Alley Media’s “Passio”

2007_09_28_passio.jpgNever ones to let a red hot marketing opportunity go to waste, the bad boys at Dark Alley Media respond to this week’s Folsom Street Fair poster brouhaha with a little East Coast erotic blasphemy of their own. The upcoming “Passio” is described as director Matthias von Fistenberg’s take on “the Greatest Story Ever Told” … and if those Concerned Women of America got their panties in a bunch about restaging the Last Supper as a fetish banquet, we can’t even imagine what they’re going to say about this:

“Passio tells a number of tales from and about the life of Jesus Christ, played by heavenly Dark Alley exclusive Danny Fox. In the climactic scene, Jesus sits down to the famous meal with his various acolytes, and before long breaking bread has become swallowing meat and pounding beef. Soon we get to see what happened once Leonardo put down the paintbrush and picked up the lube bottle.”

We hate to think what kind of porn Karl Rove watches, but we’re sure he’d be honored to know about this up-to-the-minute promotional sale from our friends at Dark Alley Media. After all, nothing says “Don’t let the door hit you on the way out!” like some good old fashioned gay erotic torture smut.

Dark Alley Media’s “8 1/2″

It’s not always easy to separate actual press releases from the porn spam that floods our inbox every day—and once we do figure out which items are legitimate PR material, sometimes it’s hard to sift out things that are worth closer inspection from those that are just a cheap grab for…

Dark Alley Media’s “Gaytanamo”: Only A Movie?

2007_04_10_gaytanamo.jpg

Proving once again that the only type of bad publicity is no publicity, the just-released “Gaytanamo” is already turning out to be the most talked-about gay porn movie of the year: the Washington Blade clucked over its “bad taste” back in January, and more recently Queerty posted an email from an outraged porn fan who despite not having actually seen the film (surprise!) claimed that “sensationalizing and sexing up what is happening in Guantanamo Bay is the (sic) like making a porno called ‘Gay-Auschwitz’”. Given the fact that things like torture and prison rape fantasy have been a part of gay porn since at least those old loincloth-sporting Athletic Model Guild loops from the 50s—and that such violent themes remain the fodder for all kinds of mainstream entertainment from movies to TV shows to videogames, and to relatively little complaint—we think the outcry is a case of some of our more oversensitive homosexualist brethren taking things a bit too seriously. What we’re more concerned about is why more people aren’t complaining about that gawdawful pun of a title. Surely we all deserve something better than that.

Meet Danny Fox

We couldn’t let last week’s unhappy anniversary of the beginning of the Iraq war pass without another mention of what may turn out to be one of the more interesting legacies of the Current Unpleasantess: Dark Alley Media’s “Gaytanamo”, and more particularly its star Danny Fox, who plays a hapless…
