Taylor Bennett, the openly bisexual rapper and younger brother of Chance the Rapper, made an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert earlier this week to perform his new song "Streaming Services." The song takes the listener through what it's like for Taylor, who has never asked for help from his famous brother, to navigate the music business as an independent artist.
Oh, and he was also shirtless.
Bennett, who dropped his EP Be Yourself in July 2018, did an interview with TIME to talk about his journey.
"To be black in America, to come from a background where typical masculinity comes first at all costs and being the first to disrupt the norm, is so scary," he told the magazine. "You know, it’s very, very, very hard to be yourself—but even more difficult to be yourself and still be the most powerful person or version of yourself in a room. Something that I want for not just children but all my listeners—no matter if you’re gay, straight, white, black, rich or poor—is understanding the power of being yourself."
It's pretty cool to see artists who identify as LGBTQ+ showcasing their talents in their own way. Showcasing those abs doesn't hurt, either.
