Migos Refused To Perform With Drag Queens On SNL

This past week on Saturday Night Live, we saw Katy Perry perform with a plethora of amazing dancers and drag queens during her performances. While the performances were amazing and gave some great exposure to the LGBT+ community on network television, it turns out not everyone was onboard with inclusivity. 

According to a report from Uproxx, Migos, who also joined Katy on stage for 'Bon Appetit,' did not want to be on stage with drag queens - and they weren't shy about their opposition. 

“I was one of the performers on that table with them the whole time, during the rehearsal for three days,” one of the queens told World Of Wonder in an interview. "On the day of the filming, when I got there, I was told to leave. I wasn’t on the set at the time, but we were asking what happened. They said it was because Migos doesn’t feel comfortable with having drag queens there.”

An employee from the show also added, "I work at SNL and the rumors are true! Migos held up rehearsal because they ‘weren’t comfortable with the drag queens’ being there. There were initially more drag queens on the set [for 'Bon Appetit], but after Migos threw a fit, Katy Perry’s team removed some of the queens from the performance. Additionally, Katy Perry didn’t invite any of the queens to the afterparty… So, none of them were allowed in.” 

Migos were criticised earlier this year after they made some seemingly homophobic remarks about iLoveMakonnen shortly after he publicly came out as gay. They also said that they wouldn’t perform in a gay club if they were asked to.

I've always considered Katy Perry an ally to the community, but I just can't get over this Migos situation and I can't support anyone who allows people to behave in such a way. In 2017, the last thing we need is more homophobia and lack of acceptance. What are your thoughts?
