American Honey is a new hit indie flick that explores youthful angst and restlessness in the American Midwest, and it also happens to feature nudity from Shia LaBeouf and McCaul Lombardi! If you're thinking "I don't like the first guy and I don't know the second guy," then just know that you can focus all of your energy on getting acquainted with McCaul, because this boy is gorgeous! I'm not going to pressure you into giving a shit about Shia LaBeouf. No one does, but I think he just does these things for free now, so they're like, "Okay you can act in it but don't make it into a terrible piece of art as you do." The most surprising thing about American Honey is the fact that these people are supposed to be teenagers. Like really. Maybe if they were portraying teenagers that were stuck in a microwave set on high I'd buy it? Basically, the story is being lauded for its ability to remind viewers of what it was like to be wild, free, rambunctious, and totally horned up in their youth. We meet Star (Sasha Lane) in a dumpster, looking for food. Quickly, she encounters a group of teenagers in a nearby mega-store and sees a chance to escape her unhappy home life. This group of smiling, jumping, dancing people, led by a flirtatious Jake (Shia LaBeouf), offer a way out for Star. Where they’re going to take her isn’t as important as the idea that they’re going somewhere, anywhere other than here. She learns that Jake is one of the leaders of the group, who travel the country selling magazines door to door. They really just do it enough to get food and lodging so they can keep doing it. They’re living day to day—partying, drinking, and singing their way across the country. 

Shia LaBeouf: The world's most busted teenager.
