“Not into Asians” YouTube Video: Are Grindr Preferences Racist?

The correlation between sexual preference and racism has been beat to damn death since the dawn of peniskind, but in recent years Grindr has been stirring the pot. While it's one thing to know that those around you might be shooting for specific buttholes, it's another thing to see it spelled out on someone's profile. "Not into Asians" "masc4masc" "peg legs 4 me" - the list of specific preferences goes on!

But when does a Grindr profile turn from truthful to hurtful? Is it fair to implement such a broad filter, foregoing a case by case approach for penetration potentials? Are these people relying on untrue stereotypes? I have a white gay friend who only dates black guys and Asians. Is that okay? If a guy can't get it up for fems, and lets it be known loud and clear on his Grindr, is he being a bigot? What if that amazing fem is right around the block, and the fem shunner is missing out on his destiny? Why can't I stop asking questions? Help!

These kinds of conversations get revisited from time to time on the gay Internet, and recently some fellas put together YouTube video "NOT INTO ASIANS" highlighting the difficulties they face as gay Asians. Among other things, they mention the detrimental affect Grindr profiles can have on youths just coming out of the closet. Or is it a heaping dose of reality? Another question, can't, stop!
