HBO Series ‘Looking’ Returns For Second Season January 11

TV/MOVIES

In a television landscape full of sameness, the HBO series Looking was a welcome salve to all the cookie cutter nonsense, and HBO has just announced that its second season will debut this coming January. According to Deadline Hollywood (link below), the series will no longer have Girls as a lead-in, but that's honestly just good news because now I never have to worry about the last five minutes of that show ending up on my Tivo anymore.

Created by Michael Lannan and executive produced by Andrew Haigh and Sarah Condon, the show revolves around three friends in San Francisco who explore the varied options available to a new generation of gay men. Jonathan Groff, Frankie J. Alvarez and Murray Bartlett star. Raul Castillo, who recurred on Season 1 as Richie Donado, has been upped to regular for the second season.

Thanks to his role in Frozen, Jonathan Groff is now like the second most popular gay actor among families after NPH. Those keeping score at home will also know that Groff was one of only two actors to do a nude scene last season, along with Russell Tovey, so hopefully more of these guys will get in on the act this season.
