You'd think that we'd be more excited about this year's GAYVN Awards, seeing what a great time we had last year and how they're all set to take place just over two weeks from today ... but what do you know folks, we're totally not!
No, it has nothing to do with the mini-controversy brewing over the selection of this year's hosts; although we're going to miss us some Kathy Griffin, we think Derek and Romaine will do a decent job, along with the inimitable Lady Bunny (until she passes out behind that open bar, that is). It's more because we're feeling a little burnt out on awards shows in general, especially ones where the categories, nominations process, and overall level of (dis)organization are as ... uh, problematic as much as the GAYVNs are. That said, we'll be trying to muster up some enthusiasm between now and February 16th, if only for the sake of our valued readers. And if the actual event ends up being half as entertaining as some of the shit-slinging about it that's going on right now ... well, it might just turn out to be something worth attending after all.
