Josh Weston Goes Bareback

2008_01_14_weston.jpgWe generally decide on what to post about here on Fleshbot by sticking to the maxim that what we include is just as important than what we leave out, which is why we generally don’t post about bareback titles or performers around here: bitch and moan all you want about porn as fantasy and personal choice and hypocrisy or whatever, but we still think the fetishization of condomless sex is irresponsible and dangerous and not something we’re especially interested in promoting.

But when a former Falcon and COLT star like Josh Weston crosses that great divide and starts making bareback smut, we suppose it counts as news, and avoiding mentioning it would be just as irresponsible of us—even if we don’t really have much to say about it aside from noting our general disappointment. So we’ll just end this post by (1) directing you to our eminent colleague JC Adams at Gay Porn Times for more details, and (2) reminding you that this won’t be the best place to look for more updates concerning Josh Weston’s career moves in the future. Fun while it lasted, though!

Well, Fleshbot editors, I’d hope you’d at least make note of Josh Weston when he contracts HIV (assuming he hasn’t already gotten it) or when he dies/kills himself/kills someone else else when he gives them HIV….

I share your disappointment — I’m shocked and VERY annoyed at Weston. Is this just a matter of him being bored with all the different variants of sex he’s had on film? Is he tired of his life? Tired of the acclaim and popularity he’s had over the years?

I sincerely hope that there is a backlash against him and he finds out that his fans can only take so much — and him choosing to “extend” his repetoire with bareback will LOSE his fans.

    Good job, Josh…not.

Also, he lost that sweet look he had. He looks all roidy and weird here, like he has PTSD.

I miss the old days of Quarterback Sack!

@lee2 – OK, you’re obviously a fan of bareback porn, and I can see how condemning Weston’s new career move while promoting hetero condom-free sex at the same time can be construed as hypocritical. But given how HIV has disproportionately affected the gay community in general and the gay porn community in particular, I can definitely side with those who think that bareback porn is irresponsible. You only have to look at the fact that HIV infection rates are rising among young gay men to realize that we have to keep sending the message that condoms are a neccessary part of sex in every way that we can, including through porn.

It’s fascinating to hear one that is hypocritical continue with “but still”…as if they have any credibility. lol I mean am I confused or is the following content from THIS site? [fleshbot.com]

I am not a “fan” of it. I’ve watched it, yes, but I would not be crushed if I could not see it ever again, or any porn for that matter. I’m not attached to any it. My remarks are more for intellectual purposes. But moving on.

From the tone of your intro, I take it that you saw me comment on the other site. Therefore, you probably saw that beyond pointing out the inconsistency in attitudes about condom-free sex in straight porn vs. gay porn, I have mentioned the seeming contrivance of raising red flags about what is now called “bareback” porn, given the virtual absence of eyelash batting over the still distributed and presumably popular titles under the novel categories of “classic” or “pre-condom”. It seems to me that if the assumption is that people watch porn and gain ideas about what is acceptable for themselves, then this would be equally troubling to those concerned about HIV. I think this can easily be “construed” as hypocritical because it is. If we’re really concerned with HIV spreading throughout the gay (male) community, I imagine that there would be more promotion of testing and honesty in disclosure of sexual profiles, instead of applying the bandage of the condom to a 25 year wound that poor or lacking values in the gay community created. While most in the “condom for prevention” camp are focused on something else, my attention is more focused on the mindsets that allowed this virus to spread to the proportion that is has. And no, it’s not condom-free sex to blame. People has all ammunition needed to nip this problem in the bud BEFORE the condom. It’s not rocket science to figure out either. Moreover, I’d wager that the condom has enabled people to ignore it.

I guess shifting from condom-must to condom-less porn implies one has the virus already. Why gamble your safety when you lost it already?
