Since Falcon has held out ’til the waning days of 2007 to release what it’s calling their “blockbuster movie of the year”, you can probably understand why we were expecting something that looked a little more elaborate than … well, pretty much all of the other non-blockbuster titles they’ve released of late: “Dare” features a cast chock full of the usual Falcon suspects, with a few new faces (= newcomers Braxton Bond and Riley Burke) thrown in the mix so we didn’t totally feel like we’ve seen this all before. But director Jett Blakk’s script—something about a car, a journey, a madman, and a sexual awakening, presumably in that order—at least sets the production apart from some of the studio’s plot-free fare, and we’re even treated to guest appearances (non-sexual, alas) by porn legend Lou Cass and a certain dreamy gay porn blogging colleague of our acquaintance. So we guess there are worse things you can do than take Falcon up on the challenge. Who knows—you might even come out, uh, ahead.
