Michael Lucas Is Just A "Gigolo" (But You Knew That Already)

You didn't have to read the extended title of "Michael Lucas' La Dolce Vita" to know just whose life the movie revolved around, and "The Intern" wasn't so much about its title subject as it was about ... guess who. So we can all pretty much expect that "Gigolo", the latest marquee production from Lucas Entertainment, is going to be yet another exercise in ego self-stroking by one of gay porn's masters of the craft. Right?

Well ... not exactly. One of the best things about all of Lucas' movies is that he manages to surround himself with people who have more than enough talent to hold their own. And nearly everything about "Gigolo" as a movie—from the cinematography to the music to the editing to the cast—is consistently first rate.

OK, almost consistently: there are a few sex scenes towards the beginning of the film which didn't deliver quite as much as we were hoping. (Unless you happen to be really into feet, in which case real-life couple Lars Svenson and Jason Sparks' pairup may be worth your price of admission alone.) Fortunately, there's more than enough first class fucking later on to make you remember that Michael Lucas makes pretty good porn too.

One of Lucas' biggest coups is getting two of this year's breakout web stars—Fleshbot (and everyone else's) crush objects Zack Randall and Kurt Wild—to star in "Gigolo". Zack's initial threeway with Lucas Entertainment exclusives Ray Star and J. has a certain joyless quality about it, but his later scene with Arpad Miklos, all daddy worship and pit licking and super sweaty balls-deep fucking, more than makes up for it: you can't buy chemistry like that (or enough extended closeups up Zack's eager gaping asshole) no matter how big your budget is. Likewise, Kurt's threeway with Ben Andrews (whose character is introduced as a younger and better hung version of Lucas'—ha!) and Scott Tanner is also one for the books.

We should probably mention something about the script—which despite the title and certain blog buzz to the contrary, isn't at all based on Paul Schrader's 1980 Richard Gere vehicle "American Gigolo". To be honest, though, we still haven't made it past that Zack and Arpad scene (yes, it's that good)—so we've yet to see the last twenty minutes or so, which presumably explains how Lucas' character ended up strangled in his bed at the beginning of the movie. But from what we saw earlier, the acting is worth not skipping straight to the sex scenes for: Ray Star in particular is excellent as a sleazy pimp, and Lucas himself turns in a surprisingly touching and believable performance as a reluctant gigolo dealing with the loss of a lover.

Maybe one day Lucas will release a full R-rated cut of the film so we can study the plot details a little more closely. As it stands now, though, "Gigolo" is yet another class act from Lucas Entertainment—with a few of the hottest fuck scenes we've seen from the company yet. Michael Lucas should be proud to have his name all over it.
