Fleshbot Gay
As much as we try to resist the Michael Lucas publicity juggernaut, he always seems to come up with another media appearance that's just too juicy to ignore. The latest sighting—in addition to some scandalous (and alleged) PNP stories about him and Jason Tiya at ATKOL forums recently—is on the op-ed page at the New York Blade, where Lucas is a regular contributor. His debut opinion piece is "When Gays Don't Attack", which more or less reasonably demands gays to fight more for our respect, especially in the wake of the latest outrage by Ann Coultergeist, "[b]ecause we, and our leadership, have a cowardly strategy for defending ourselves. We are a sophisticated community. We understand irony. So when others protest, we wink and we smile. And, even worse, we trade backbone for access." Lucas also drags in some comparisons to race-related issues and the Rev. Al Sharpton that some may take issue with (maybe he wasn't aware that Sharpton ran for president endorsing gay marriage, or that he's also known for criticizing anti-gay black pastors?). But we get his point. While Michael's editorial skills might not land him a similar spot at the New York Times, it's good to see him still stirring up some controversy, on camera and off. Would we want him any other way?-RM
