As if we needed any more proof that porn and mainstream culture are closer together than ever these days, GAYVN announced this week that famed D-Lister Kathy Griffin will be hosting the 9th Annual GAYVN Awards ceremony to be held in San Francisco on February 24th. And as if the list of firsts weren't long enough for this year's schmoozfest—first time in San Francisco, first time open to the public—we can now add first time a comedian of her caliber has performed at said event. After all, when she's not acting in bit parts on short-lived dramedies like ABC's "Civil Wars" or packing houses in Tucson and Sacramento, she's America's leading proponent against Lasik Eye Surgery.
